Mary has been studying and emulating the palettes of the old masters for over 25 years. As a student of Jim Robinson at The Art Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota, she honed her classical painting techniques including Verdaccio underpainting, originating with early Renaissance Italian muralists.

With the inspiration of seeing Caravaggio’s works throughout Rome, Mary continued her artistic journey using historical pigments and oils, sourced and prepared to closely adhere to the old masters

Her work is rooted in the techniques of the Old Masters, careful observation, layered oil paint, and a devotion to craftsmanship. That classical foundation guides everything she creates, whether studying historic compositions, capturing the shifting light of Cape Cod, or exploring the quiet beauty of still lifes and portraits. Across each collection, her goal is the same: to honor tradition while bringing a personal voice to the subjects that inspire her.

Mary lives in Minneapolis with her husband and six children and loves teaching painting to both children and adults alike.
